The following terms and conditions apply to all registrations for SITC 2024 :

Registration

1.1 Registration Fees

Registration is free for members of SI and for invited guests with a valid invitation code. For all other participants, registration only becomes effective after the applicable registration fee has been received by SI.

1.2 Cancellations and Substitutions

Cancellations or substitutions must be made by contacting the SI Office at office@swissinformatics.org. For cancellations up to 8 May, 2024 the total amount paid, minus a processing fee of CHF 10.00, will be refunded. Thereafter, the full amount paid will be forfeited.

1.3 Abusive Registrations

Participants must provide their real name, affiliation and address when registering. Registering with nicknames or fake names is considered abusive and is prohibited. Also, the abuse of invitation codes is prohibited.
SI reserves the right to cancel abusive registrations or decline participants holding an abusive registration access to SITC 2024 and to its resources. Registration fees paid for abusive registrations will not be refunded.

2. Data and Privacy Protection

SI will process the participant data supplied in the registration process solely for the purpose of organizing SITC 2024. SI may engage third party service providers for handling registrations and processing participant data.

3. Photos and Videos

Participants grant SI full and royalty-free permission to publish photos or videos taken at SITC 2024. If a participant feels harassed by the way they are pictured on a photo or in a video published by SI, they may send a deletion request in writing to the SI Office.
Attendees of SITC 2024 are permitted to take photos and videos for personal, non-commercial use, provided the photography is not disruptive. Using photos or videos taken at SITC 2024 for any commercial purposes is forbidden without prior written permission by SI.

4. Changes to the SITC 2024 Program

We have carefully prepared SITC 2024 and will do our best to run SITC 2024 as scheduled and published. However, we retain the right to make changes to the program if this should be necessary. We also reserve the right to convert SITC 2024 into a fully virtual event in case that this should become necessary due to force majeure. Such modifications do not entitle participants to any refund of participation fees.

5. Dispute Resolution

All disputes or claims arising from registering for or participating in SITC 2024 shall be governed by Swiss law and heard by a court of competent jurisdiction in Bern, Switzerland. Participants consent to jurisdiction in Bern for that purpose.

6. Liability Waiver

By registering for SITC 2024, participants release SI, as well as their employees or volunteers tasked with the organization of SITC 2024, from any liability for any expense, loss, damage or personal injury suffered in conjunction with SITC 2024, unless that expense, loss, damage or personal injury has been caused by the sole, gross negligence of SI or one of their employees or volunteers tasked with the organization of SITC 2024.

7. Validity

Should any of the provisions of these Terms and Conditions or parts thereof be held invalid or unfeasible, such provisions or parts thereof shall be considered severable and such invalidity shall not affect the remainder of the Terms and Conditions.
